Trace 2012 is coming soon!!
Things are shaping up for our Trace coming up on February 2-4, 2012. We are expecting this year’s Trace to be one for the ages!! The Brigade Competitions are back and we expect another fierce competition. Those of us from WRMC plan on taking the flag back with us this year!!
The brigade competitions will be as follows:
Flint and Steel – This year you will be timed not only on lighting a fire in your hands, but you will also have to build an actual fire with it.
Horn Blow – at risk of several heads exploding and people passing out… we will see who can keep it going the longest!
Atlatl – After last year’s strong showing of expertise in this area, we will add a distance throw to this event
Archery – A woods walk archery course will be a cool new addition this year
Knife and Hawk throw – Accuracy and adaptation will be needed to take home this event!
As always, the scores will reflect the participation of young bucks by your brigade…
We will also be bringing back the individual blanket competition!! For those unfamiliar with this event, everyone wishing to participate will bring a handmade item to put on the blanket. We will then have a blackpowder shooting competition. The winner will then get to take their pick of items placed on the blanket. Whomever places second gets second choice, etc. Due to the weather, we didn’t get to do this competition last year so let’s all pray for good weather. The shooting distances will range from 25 yards to 65 yards with more points for the harder shots.
As always we will be hosting our annual Missions Auction to benefit the MAPS ministry. Please let me know if you plan on bringing items for the auction and remember that the Lord loves a cheerful giver. Last year we were able to bless our missionary with over $2500 from the auction. That is only possible because of the generosity of you, our craftsmen.
Stay tuned for more information as things progress, but begin Praying and Fasting now for the Lord to do a mighty work in all of us this year!
I will see you guys soon,
Dale Turner
